Artisan Electrical Jobs at – Sedibeng Water – Gauteng   in South Africa 2014


Sedibeng Water, with its headquarters situated in Balkfontein just outside Bothaville, has an operational area that covers about 86 000km2 – making it one of the largest water utilities providing services to approximately two million people across three provinces, namely Free State, North West and Northern Cape.

In order to meet the demands of its growth strategy, the organisation is looking for a suitably qualified individual to fill the following vacancy:

Virginia Requirements:
Grade 12 or equivalent Electrical Engineering qualification. Trade Test (Electrical)
Wireman’s licence
HT switching (NQF Level 5)
Instrumentation Trade Test
3 years’ practical and relevant experience as an Artisan
Valid Code EB driver’s licence
Ability to work within tight time constraints
Supervisory skills
Ability to work independently
Ability to work in a team setup
Ability to analyse and solve problems.

Major responsibilities:
Maintain electrical and refrigeration equipment
Maintain telemetry, radio and telephone systems
Perform construction work on electrical and refrigeration equipment
Rewire power and control panels
Maintain and calibrate instruments
Liaise and negotiate with suppliers of electrical products
Find faults on panels, instrumentation and PLCs
Repair and maintain appliances, motors and panels
Oversee and assist Tradesman with their duties
Perform standby duties
Ensure safety measures are in place in accordance with safety standards
Perform any official work assigned to him by the Superintendent.
