Our client, a responsible eco-tourism company with offices in Cape Town, wishes to employ a German speaking senior sales consultant to join their team. The right candidate will be responsible for safari sales within a geographical agent sales team. Key responsibilities:

  • Handle safari requests from agents with costing and accurate information within the required turnaround time
  • Respond to requests from agents including suggestions on itinerary design, routeing, logistics, alternatives and upselling
  • Follow booking procedures as stipulated in the manual when booking all properties, vehicles and activities that make up the safari
  • Complete the safari file with all the information required on confirmation
  • Maintain good relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure sales process
  • Report any errors or issues to management
  • Following and adhering to all sales procedures as set out in the operating manuals
  • Attending all training that is offered and proactively growing your knowledge of the company, our products
  • Use systems to their maximum potential and play an active role in helping to improve where possible
  • Seeking ways to increase sales from your accounts and play an active role in increasing the performance of the sales office

Qualification and experience:

  • Certificate/diploma/degree in travel/tourism
  • Minimum of two to three years’ experience in the tourism sector in a similar position
  • Knowledge of east Africa – Kenya and Tanzania and sales systems like Travelogic and Res Request

Key competencies:

  • Excellent verbal and language in German and English
  • Computer literate in MS Office and good knowledge of sales systems
  • Skilled in designing detailed and individualised quotes for itinerary requests
  • Excellent sales skills and the ability to upsell and knowledge of sales system
  • Target orientated, and experience of delivering results in a performance oriented and fast-paced sales environment
  • Strong administration and organisational skills with great attention to detail
  • Ability to work well under pressure with a can-do attitude
  • Experience in handling difficult situations (e.g. complaints, last-minute requests, changes whilst travelling)
